What is wrong with my internal combustion engine(ICE) car?
Plenty. The main issue is that the internal combustion engine doesn't work well at different speeds and loads. This single problem generates a laundry list of troubles:
- ICEs must have multi-speed transmissions which are heavy & waste power
- ICEs are oversized from a power perspective to compensate for poor low speed performance
- Sensors and computers have been added to expand performance but complexity has exploded
- Repairs take more time and sometimes nobody can figure out why a vehicle is having a particular problem
- More repair time directly leads to more cost
- Diagnostic tools are more expensive
- The new sensors and computers cost more than older systems
